NIH Public Access Policy: Does it apply to me?
- This guide provides information on the NIH Public Access Policy from writing the article to submitting to PubMed Central. This guide was adapted from "Complying with the NIH Public Access Policy" created by Andrea Lynch from City of Hope Graff Library.

Does it apply to me?
The first step of complying with the NIH Public Access Policy is determining what papers are covered by it.
The Policy applies to any peer-reviewed manuscript that is accepted for journal publication on or after April 7, 2008 that arises from:
- Any direct funding from an NIH grant or cooperative agreement active in Fiscal Year 2008 or beyond, or;
- Any direct funding from an NIH contract signed on or after April 7, 2008, or;
- Any direct funding from the NIH Intramural Program, or;
- An NIH employee.
