Micromedex provides information for drugs, including but not limited to:

  • Drug class
  • Dosing & administration
  • Medication safety
  • Pharmacokinetics
  • Toxicology
  • Storage & stability

You can also check to see:

  • how brand or generic drugs may interact with another,
  • what drugs are compatible with IV solutions,
  • the identification of a drug based on imprint code or physical description,
  • a side-by-side comparison of drugs and their dosing, adverse effects, contraindications, etc.

How to Download Micromedex

At the Pumerantz Library home page, click on the E-Resources tab in the top menu header bar.

 

In the database listings, click on the "M" option in the top filter section and click on Micromedex.

If you are off campus, you will need to sign into the WesternU Proxy Server with your WesternU email username (without the @westernu.edu) and password.

In the right side of the Micromedex home page underneath the purple Resources heading, click on Download Mobile Apps.

 

Click on "Micromedex Native Mobile Apps" to expand the menu. You can choose from IBM Micromedex Drug Ref, IBM Micromedex Drug Int., IBM Micromedex IV Comp., IBM Micromedex NeoFax, and IBM Micromedex Pediatrics to download. Follow the instructions listed under each specialty app to download the app on to your mobile device.

 

 

Important!

The Micromedex app does not require active Internet connection!

The Micromedex app password changes annually. Follow the above instructions to navigate to the new Micromedex password.
