What are stable links?
Stable links are URL's for online library resources (i.e., journal articles, e-books) that can safely be reused for off-campus access. Some resources have session ID's in the URL, so you aren't able to copy and paste from the address bar.
How to find stable links in our resources
- EBSCO- from the Tools menu in a journal abstract, or in the ebook viewer, click on

- Ovid*- from the Tools menu, click on

*Ovid Jumpstart includes our proxy prefix, but you will have to remove the extra "proxy.westernu.edu" that is embedded in the URL if you are off-campus
- ScienceDirect- from the HTML article view, click on
and then copy the URL from the email that opens. You will also have to add the proxy prefix to the URL.
- Other providers- copy the URL from the address bar. You will need to do some editing of the URL (or use the EZproxy Link Generator)
- change the dashes (-) to periods (.)
- delete ".proxy.westernu.edu"
- add the proxy prefix
- example: from this- https://onlinelibrary-wiley-com.proxy.westernu.edu/doi/pdf/10.1111/j.1365-3156.2009.02241.x
to this- https://proxy.westernu.edu/login?url=https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1111/j.1365-3156.2009.02241.x
